– If using plastic wrap bandage keep the fresh tattoo wrapped up for at least two hours, and no more than 24 hours.
– If using a 2nd skin waterproof bandage then keep the bandage on for three or four days. Remove the bandage by pulling down and out similar to how you remove a “Command Strip” from the wall to avoid tearing off the paint (preferrably in the shower, the moisture helps it come off easier). If the bandage starts causing any unusual discomfort before the third or fourth day remove and wash promptly.
– Once the bandage is removed immediately wash the tattoo thoroughly with a non-scented soap (avoid bar soaps and abrasive scrubs, washclothes & exfoliaters).
– Dry the tattoo area with a single use clean paper towel until the tattoo is fully healed.
– Twice a day until the tattoo is fully healed wash and apply a thin layer of a non-scented lotion.
– Avoid direct sun exposure and do not submerge the tattoo in any water (baths, pools, etc.) for at least two weeks.

Long Term Aftercare Tips:
- Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible. Sunlight will eat through your tattoos life span the more time they spend in the sun. To avoid this during sunny seasons and after your tattoo is fully healed, apply “reef safe” or zinc-based sunscreen to the tattooed area at least 15 minutes before sun exposure. Re-apply every 2 hours of direct sun exposure.
- Lotion is your best friend. Applying lotion to your tattoo as often as you can remember, at least once per day for the rest of your days will keep your skin looking young and healthy and deter the aging process of your tattoos.
- Avoid cuts and burns where the tattoo is located. Any injuries that directly impact the layer of skin above your tattoo could cause scarring. In this event reach out to your artist and ask about their touch-up policy.
- After the first six months of healing, when washing use an abrasive scrub like a loofah or exfoliator to remove dead layers of skin to keep the tattoo looking fresh.
